Friday… Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone… only a few hours away from the weekend!

I only have a couple hours of work and four hours of cooking standing between me and a weekend with the family and I can’t wait!

Here are a few foodie links to peruse over the weekend.

Joy the Baker’s first blog post… I love going back to the beginning and see how things have changed in a blog!

A recipe I’m making at work today.

I’ve been dying to make a pavlova! This one looks fabulous.

Is it crazy that I’ve never made a homemade margarita? I think I’ll try this recipe.

A few places my fam and I will be eating this weekend: Perla’s, Supper Friends, and (if mom gets her way) HopDoddy… from there, who knows?!

I hope y’all have a fabulous weekend… enjoy the sunshine if you’ve got it!

Weekend in Review

I had a busy weekend. I’m still recovering, actually, cause I just woke up from a nice cat nap on the couch.

The weekend definitely had a rough start, though. After a stressful crazy Friday workday, a delicious gluten-binge on Tiff’s Treats, and a coffee at a new cafe, I somehow ended up back home starting a marathon of The Hills. Don’t judge me. I blame my favorite pen pal and Netflix.

Saturday started off right with a trip to the Farmers Market for some essentials: GF bread from my friend Lou, bacon from the fabulous local butcher Dai Due, and this time around I bought some beautiful mushrooms from a farm called Kitchen Pride. After dropping my goods off at home, I headed to work. Bosslady, Karen Morgan, did a fabulous demo at Williams-Sonoma where we made GF Cream Puffs for shoppers to try. The event was a huge success and we can’t wait to work with Williams-Sonoma more in the future. Side note: If you are ever at Williams-Sonoma, you have to try the Chardonnay Wine Jelly they have. We melted some down and added it to Chantilly Cream and ohmygoodnesgracious I could have eaten all three cups!

After we packed up, I went home for a costume change and a bacon sandwich before heading to another job with a local catering company. I love catering events because it’s so fun to see how things are decorated and watch people enjoying themselves.

Sunday was by far the best. With church, a fried egg & bacon sandwich, a nap or two, chocolate cake, and a BBQ with friends… what’s not to love? Mama lives in Scotland, so I didn’t get to spend Mother’s day with her, but I gave her a call and updated her on life and thanked her for being such a wonderful mom. (Love you mom!)

I hope you had an equally wonderful weekend!

Weekend Snapshots

My weekend was equally restful and busy… here are some pictures to tell its story.

Most Saturday mornings, I head to the downtown Farmers’ Market to see with my friend who owns True Nature’s Child, a GF, Vegan bread company in Austin. I help her sell, eat some bread, and just hang out. Today I took my camera for the first time and snapped some pictures of her booth. I also set up my camera to video some of the comings and goings of people at the farmers market and made a short little video!

(music: We will all be changed by Seryn)

I had some cookies left over from an order I delivered on Friday, so I treated myself to an ice cream sandwich… the perfect afternoon snack!

Saturday night, I had the opportunity to help a friend and her boyfriend cater a wedding out in Driftwood. The venue was beautiful, the music was fun, and the food was delicious… I mean, check out what we served!

Today, between the Capitol 10K and the gorgeous weather, I sat through my fair share of traffic. But, I just rolled my windows down and enjoyed the drive.

To take full advantage of the weather, I drove to a park in my neighborhood, laid down a blanket, and read in the shade of a tree.

I hope your weekend was equally as beautiful.
